Hello there! The sisters of Sigma Psi Zeta hope that everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of summer vacation! Tau Chapter has been VERY busy this summer. Here's a little bit of what we've been up to:
Throughout the Summer, sisters have been actively participating in a variety of fundraising events including a bake sale, car washes, and even a yard sale.
Tau Chapter also hosted Sigma Psi Zeta's National Neo's Convention here at College Park! This nation-wide event was organized by Tau's very own Jennifer *w00tw00t* Feng, Sigma's new National Programming Director. Huge thanks to all sisters who came out, helped with programming, and housed sisters!
Our sisters are also looking forward to wrapping up the summer with our Annual Sisterhood Retreat at the end of the month. Amidst all of our business, it's important for us to have good quality time with each other.
Last, but not least, please welcome our new Webmistress, Jackie *Hanaiko* Tseng from Tau's Iota class. Jackie is working hard to bring you all the updated information on what's going on with Tau Chapter on our website as well as in detail here on our Xanga page!
There are still a lot of updates updates happening on our website, but check out our brand new iOTA Class Profile Pages and get to know the 8 lovely ladies of Tau Chapter's newest class! (Click on names to go to their individual pages)
We are ALL so proud of you girls!!! It is a pleasure to have you in our sisterhood! -------------------------------------- We would also like to extend a special Congratulations to ALL 2008 Neophytes! Congratulations to ALL organizations on your new classes. We wish you all the best!

A multicultural, Asian-Interest Greek Organization.We
are a cultural, social, educational and community service
oriented sorority, the first Greek-lettered sorority of its kind to
be established on the East Coast. It stands today as one of the
largest and most distinguished Asian-Interest sororities in the nation.
What can I expect from the "typical" Sigma sister?
There is
no "typical" Sigma sister. Sisterhood is not a mold for women to
fitinto. Nor does it make each sister who they are. Each
sister contributes her talent, idealism, devotion and energies to the
greater organization, giving our sisterhood the character it has today.
We hopethat each sister will change our sisterhood, helping it to grow
andevolve.
What is Rush?
The Rush
Process was designed in order for Sisters and rushees--those interested
in joining Sigma Psi Zeta--to get to know each other. These rush events
give rushees a chance to meet active sisters and decide if Sigma Psi
Zeta Sorority is right for them. Once the scheduled rush events have
come to a close, a bid--a formal invitation to become a pledge--is sent
out to individuals that sisters believe embody the ideals of the
Sorority. If/when she has reached the decision to accept or decline, the
Sisters should be contacted with the response. If an individual accepts
a bid, the pledging process will soon start thereafter. Please do not
hesitate at anytime during this period to approach any of the sisters
with questions you may have. Questions and comments are welcome and
encouraged at all times.(It is important to remember that all rush events are non-binding, meaning that you are not obligated to join the Sorority! It's just a way to get to know us!)
Why Rush? The Rush
process gives women the opportunity to explore various Greek
organizations on campus before determining which one is right for
them.There is no obligation
to join Sigma Psi Zeta during rush. Just think of Rush as a time to meet
and get to know new people, and maybe even make some new friends! It
also doesn't hurt that rush iscompletely FREE and that there's going to be lots of food and fun!
What's Required? Nothingreally,
just come out to any events that spark your interest! Rush starts near
the beginning of Fall and Spring semester. Keep in mind, to receive a
bid a rushee is required to attend at least: One general interest meeting (GIM), One Philanthropy and One event of choice. Sisters
understand time conflicts and exam schedules, therefore, contacting a
sister to schedule an alternative rush event is not aproblem.
Does it cost a lot to become a sister or pledge? Absolutely
not. In fact, last semester, our chapter dues were exactly $0.00!! We
fundraise and plan events so that we don't have to worry as much about
the financials. When we do have to make payments for trips and such, our
treasury is very flexible with payment plans and various options. Don't
worry about it girls, "love don't cost a thing."
